It is a question that has been asked over and over again: "Is marijuana addictive?"
It has been asked many different times, but continues to be asked, as there has not been a definitive answer that has been given to this question. Today, we will try and answer this question, to the best of our abilities, in order to clear the air, and give advice on this subject.
Long story short, every chemical on the planet can be addictive to the human body. We have seen with soda addictions, and sugar addictions that anyone can develop a physical addiction to any chemical or food that is put into the body. These physical addictions are what we traditionally think of, when we are talking about addiction, where the body will go into withdrawals if the chemical causing the chemical dependency is no longer being taken into the body.
Mental addiction to marijuana (weed), is far more common, and this involves mental withdrawals rather than physical withdrawals. These mental addictions are compared to "habits," where the mind is so used to taking marijuana, that stopping it's use will cause mental withdrawals that are not as severe as physical withdrawals, but can cause discomfort and anxiety.
Is marijuana addictive?
The short answer is, "yes, it can be," though drugs such as meth, cocaine, or heroin are much more highly addictive. While physical addictions to marijuana are much less common than addictions to opiates, marijuana is still a drug, and carries with it the risk of dependency.
